Deep snow isn’t common in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Queen City will typically get just a few snow storms each year where the snow stays. The city averages about 2-3 inches of snowfall per year, with occasional heavier snowfall. However, it is not uncommon for the area to go several years without a significant snowfall. Indeed, the city just went 3 years prior to 2022. The forecast for 2023 looks like no deep snow if it even snows at all.
“Deep snow” or “significant snowfall” are terms that can vary depending on context and location. In Charlotte, North Carolina, where snowfall is relatively infrequent, it may be considered “significant” if it exceeds a few inches and causes disruptions to daily activities such as school closures or transportation delays. The last snow fall for Charlotte, NC was 1/22/2022. There was no snowfall in 2023. This is extremely rare. Annually Charlotte expects to see 2 snow fall days each winter. Most often snow falls in January and February. While snow may fall in December and in March these snow occurances are rare. Interestingly enough the largest snow fall ever seen in Charlotte occurred in April of 1987. The snow storm lasted for 4 days and dropped 5 feet for snow!

Yes. And not so long ago, Halloween of 2014.
